Burglar's Shank

The Burglar's Shank is a dagger weapon that can appear as a special item drop in The Mines, the Skull Cavern, and the Quarry Mine. It is obtained from special monsters on Floors 81–119 of The Mines, and it can also be found by breaking crates and barrels in those areas. In addition, it may be a reward from the chest on floor 60 of The Mines when remixed mine rewards are enabled in the Advanced Options menu at the start of a new game.

As a dagger, the Burglar's Shank is part of the game’s fast, close-range weapon class. Daggers are generally suited to quick attacks and repeated stabs rather than wide swings, so this weapon is most useful when the player wants a fast-hitting option for combat in the mines and other dangerous areas. Because it can come from several different sources, it is one of the weapons that may be acquired naturally while progressing through mining content instead of being purchased or crafted.

Its availability is tied to exploration and combat in the mid- and late-game dungeon areas. Players who spend time in the deeper Mines, the Skull Cavern, or the Quarry Mine may eventually pick one up from enemy drops or from breakables, and remixed mine rewards give it an additional chance to appear earlier than its normal loot sources.
