Bliss Burst

Bliss Burst is a short-duration germ event produced by Bristle Blossoms and Buddy Buds that spreads the Floral Scents germ into nearby gases. It appears when those plants bloom or otherwise release their scent, seeding adjacent gas tiles with Floral Scents for a brief time. The event itself lasts 0.1 cycles and applies the Floral Scents germ to the local atmosphere within the germ spread radius.

Floral Scents has specific gameplay effects depending on duplicant traits. Duplicants with the Allergic trait receive +15% stress per cycle and +10 sneeziness, while non-allergic duplicants receive -5% stress per cycle while exposed. Infection with Floral Scents is binary — exposure either infects or does not — and is not influenced by immune-boosting mechanics. Once a duplicant undergoes an allergic reaction, the reaction can be prevented or treated: Allergy Medication from the Apothecary prevents allergic reactions for 720 seconds and the same Allergy Medication cures the condition. Bleach stone can also be used to mitigate the germ in the environment.

The Floral Scents germ survives in a broad set of environmental conditions. Its temperature tolerance ranges from -10°C to 100°C, and it persists across pressures from 0 kg to 1000 kg. It is disinfected by contact with solids, gases, oxygen, and liquids; however, floral scents decay much faster in Polluted Oxygen than in Oxygen, effectively making Polluted Oxygen act as a disinfectant in practical terms. Polluted oxygen produced by slime in an atmosphere containing Floral Scents does not carry Slimelung germs; it carries Floral Scents instead. This interaction allows setups combining slime, Buddy Buds, and deodorizers to generate oxygen free of Slimelung.

Practical notes for managing Bliss Burst and Floral Scents:

• Keep Bristle Blossoms and Buddy Buds away from high-traffic or work areas if duplicants have the Allergic trait to avoid repeated stress penalties.
• Use Apothecary Allergy Medication to prevent or cure allergic reactions; stockpile doses if you plan to farm or place many scent-emitting plants.
• Bleach stone and exposing affected gas to Polluted Oxygen or other disinfecting media reduces Floral Scents load in the environment.
• Floral Scents persists in ordinary environmental ranges but will die when exposed to disinfecting materials listed above; plan ventilation and gas flows to move contaminated gas into disinfecting zones.
• If combining slime production and scent plants to generate oxygen, the resulting Polluted Oxygen will carry Floral Scents rather than Slimelung, allowing production of slimelung-free oxygen streams when paired with deodorizers.
