Bluff Briar

Bluff Briar is a decorative building blueprint in Oxygen Not Included that changes the appearance of a placed structure without affecting its function. Bluff Briar appears in the game's skin/blueprint system and is treated like other cosmetic blueprints: once owned it can be applied when placing a compatible building or switched onto an existing building via the building's blueprint tab.

Blueprints in general are obtained through the Supply Closet system. Some blueprints are part of the permanent collection and are automatically unlocked with the quality labeled "Universal." Other blueprints are earned as Timed Drops: up to three blueprints are dropped per week after a randomized wait and can be claimed from Supply Closet → Claim Blueprints or by using the blueprint button in-colony (top-left, next to Red Alert). Unclaimed timed drops accumulate and do not block future drops. Special-event and promotional blueprints can be distributed through Kickstarter rewards, Klei Rewards redemptions, holiday crates, or event participation.

Once Bluff Briar is in your collection, it is selectable when placing a compatible building; after the February 2024 QoL update you can also change the skin of an already-built structure by opening the building and selecting the new blueprint from its "blueprint" tab, avoiding the need to rebuild. Artwork-style blueprints that alter decorative value require a duplicant to first decorate the building and then be ordered to redecorate; only blueprints of the same art quality (Crude, Quaint, Masterpiece) are interchangeable for that redecorate task.

Blueprints have quality tiers that affect printing and recycling behavior. Universal and Loyalty quality blueprints cannot be printed or recycled. Other qualities can be printed using stored Filament or recycled back into Filament: Common, Decent, Nifty and Splendid yield progressively larger filament returns when recycled and require larger filament amounts to print. When viewing a skin in the Supply Closet you can choose to print it (consuming filament) or recycle it for filament credits; recently recycled items can be undone via your Klei account transactions page.

Practical notes for using Bluff Briar:

• Apply Bluff Briar at placement or switch it onto an existing compatible building from the building's blueprint tab to change appearance instantly.
• If Bluff Briar is an Artwork-type skin that affects decor, ensure a duplicant performs the decorate/redecorate procedure and that the chosen blueprint matches the building's current art quality.
• Bluff Briar cannot be printed or recycled only if it is marked Universal or Loyalty; check its quality in the Supply Closet before attempting to convert to or from Filament.
• Keep an eye on weekly Timed Drops and the Supply Closet if you do not yet own Bluff Briar; special event blueprints may be obtainable only during specific promotions.
