Tapper's Shack

Overview
Tapper's Shack is a small production building used to extract
Pine Resin and
Maple Syrup from mature
Pine and
Maple trees. Each
Tapper's Shack employs a single tapper who automatically works on adjacent trees that are marked as ready for harvest (indicated in-game by droplets on the trunk). The building belongs to the Wood category and was introduced in Update 1; its model and faction variants were updated in Update 4.
A single tapper working a
Tapper's Shack completes a harvesting cycle in 16 working hours. Over that period the tapper harvests roughly the following yields when assigned to the corresponding mature tree types: from
Pine trees, about 20–22
Pine Resin per 16 working hours (equivalent to 0.286 based on the in-game day measurement), and from
Pine Resin per day
Maple trees, about 21–23
Maple Syrup per 16 working hours (equivalent to 0.250
Maple Syrup per day). The relevant tree timings used by the shack are:
Pine reaches maturity in 12 days and yields are harvestable every 7 days thereafter;
Maple reaches maturity in 30 days and yields are harvestable every 12 days thereafter.
Tapper's Shacks are primarily placed near stands of
Pine or
Maple trees to keep tappers working continuously.
Pine Resin is an important intermediate resource: it is used to produce Treated
Planks and is required in recipes such as mining improvements that enable infinite Scrap Metal; it is also a component for constructing the
Observatory.
Maple Syrup is a folktails-exclusive resource used in
Folktails faction recipes like
Maple Pastries and the
Catalyst.
Practical notes for efficient use:
- Place
Tapper's Shacks adjacent to mature tree groves and along paths to reduce travel time for tappers and to speed deliveries to storage. - Match the number of shacks to available mature trees so tappers always have a droplet-marked tree to work on; idle tappers mean lost production.
- Prioritize
Pine Resin when you need treated wood or want to progress mining for Scrap Metal; reserve
Maple Syrup production for
Folktails-specific needs. - Keep an eye on tree maturity and replanting:
Pine and
Maple have long growth and harvest cycles, so plan sapling planting well before demand spikes.
