Blueprint Strategy
Blueprints are shapez 2's mechanism for saving a factory section as a reusable template. This page collects practical tips for using them across scenarios.
When to make a blueprint
- Belt balancer (4→4 / 8→8): every player needs these dozens of times — save once, paste forever.
- Sub-factory unit (mining → cutter → painter → output): paste at every asteroid platform to skip 5 minutes of routing work.
- Train station templates: standard load/unload patterns vary by direction (N/S/E/W) — keep one per orientation.
What does NOT belong in a blueprint
- Anything tied to a specific shape colour or pattern that won't be reused — blueprints are about structural repetition, not one-off recipes.
- Sub-factories that depend on Upgrade Shop tiers you haven't unlocked yet (they'll still paste, but at reduced throughput, hiding bottlenecks).
Sharing blueprints with the community
The Thunderstore community publishes vetted blueprint packs. Importing an external blueprint preserves its shape input/output spec so you can audit compatibility before pasting.
