Murkweed

Murkweed is an edible underwater plant found in aquatic areas of the game world. It is primarily used as a cooking ingredient: Murkweed can be crafted into nori sheets and those nori sheets are usable in additional recipes. The item is categorized as a gatherable abiotic factor that players collect for food crafting and occasional barter.

Murkweed appears underwater in the Hydroplant area and can also be obtained by fishing in the Hydroplant. Individual Murkweed nodes in the Hydroplant respawn after 7 days. Some Murkweed also appears as environmental loot in Fragment locations, notably inside a water tank in the Botanical Wing. Beyond gathering and fishing, Murkweed is part of the game’s limited barter economy: Dr. Carson will accept 3 Murkweed in exchange for a single Cog.

Practical notes and usage:

• Murkweed is edible on its own but is most commonly processed into nori sheets for use in higher-tier recipes.
• When farming Murkweed, focus on underwater zones in the Hydroplant and prioritize fishing there to supplement node harvesting.
• Because Hydroplant Murkweed nodes have a seven-day respawn timer, plan collection runs accordingly or rely on fishing and the Botanical Wing water tank spawns to top up supplies between respawns.
• Keep small stacks of Murkweed for trade with Dr. Carson if you need Cogs; three Murkweed = one Cog according to in-game trade.
• Use nori crafted from Murkweed as an ingredient in recipes that require seaweed/nori components; Murkweed is interchangeable for recipes that list nori as an ingredient.
