Quantum Pick
Overview
Quantum Pick is an end-game, one-handed sharp melee weapon that doubles as a throwable returning pick. It functions as a conventional Pickaxe in close combat and also has a dedicated alt-fire that throws the tool as a projectile. When thrown, the Quantum Pick deals impact damage to whatever it hits and awards throwing experience toward the character's throwing proficiency. After a short delay the weapon teleports back into the player's hand, accompanied by a teleportation sound and visual effect, provided there is room in the player’s inventory.
The item appears in both melee and ranged roles: normal swings are used for standard close-quarters combat, while the alt-fire gives a ranged attack option without permanently losing the weapon. Descriptions in multiple localizations consistently characterize it as a throwable pick that returns automatically to the hand, and some languages emphasize its “ice pick” / “ice axe” form factor; functionally it behaves as a returning, throwable Pickaxe-type tool-weapon.
Practical notes and strategy:
- Use the primary attack for reliable melee damage and to conserve the weapon when you need sustained close combat performance.
- Use the alt-fire to strike distant targets, interrupt enemy actions, or engage foes behind obstacles; thrown hits grant throwing XP, making the Quantum Pick useful for training that skill.
- The weapon automatically returns after a short interval; ensure you have free inventory space (or an empty weapon slot) so the return can complete. If the player lacks space, the return may fail or behave differently according to inventory rules.
- The return is signaled by a teleportation sound and visual effect, allowing you to time follow-up attacks or swaps.
- Visual references show both normal swing and thrown states, confirming the dual animation sets and use cases.
Quantum Pick is best suited for players who want a single tool that reliably covers both melee and short-range thrown attacks while contributing to throwing skill progression. Its returning property removes the risk of permanently losing the weapon on throw, enabling aggressive ranged play without long-term equipment cost.
