Oxygenator

Provides a constant oxygen flow to connected tethers, platforms and cables.
Overview
The Oxygenator is a portable oxygen source used to extend a player’s life support network beyond the

It is especially useful when traveling to another planet, exploring underground, or building a large base where not every section is directly connected to a Shelter. An Oxygenator placed on a platform can serve as the oxygen source for an entire tether network, letting players create safe routes without relying on a nearby base. Shuttles also have a dedicated slot for an Oxygenator, marked by a blue hologram, which lets players establish tether networks on arrival without first carrying a platform for it.
The Oxygenator does not need to be connected to power to work. Unlike most modules, it functions on its own once installed, making it a reliable way to start remote operations early. It is installed on a medium slot, and the main practical requirement is simply to keep it positioned where its oxygen output can reach the intended network.
A few useful points:
- Oxygen is shared through tether connections and can also pass between connected platforms.
- When Oxygen and power are being shared through anchor-type connections, the edges of the platform and the power cable glow light blue, making active oxygen transfer easy to spot at a glance.
- Because it can power a tether line directly, an Oxygenator is one of the best items for early outposts and underground work far from a Shelter.
- It is a strong choice for large bases whose outer sections are not directly attached to the Shelter.
The Oxygenator is one of the most important support items in Astroneer because it turns a single platform or shuttle into the center of a survivable exploration network. By placing it well, players can move farther, stay underground longer, and expand bases without constantly returning to a fixed oxygen source.
