Oxygen Tank

The Oxygen Tank is a backpack accessory item that stores extra Oxygen and can be connected to the player’s backpack, Terrain Tool, or to certain base and vehicle connections through a Tether. It is a Tier-1 item that fills automatically when linked to a base module or vehicle, making it useful for extending exploration range without constantly relying on a tether line.

An Oxygen Tank holds exactly as much Oxygen as the backpack’s main tank, which is 72 seconds while idling or 50 seconds while running. Equipping one tank in the backpack doubles the player’s Oxygen storage. When the tank is not tethered to a supply, its Oxygen is used before the backpack’s own reserve, and the tank’s oxygen gauge visibly empties as it is consumed.

• The Oxygen Tank fits in any Tier-1 slot.
• A filled tank can be attached to auxiliary and widget slots as well as the backpack itself.
• If the player equips a full tank in every auxiliary and widget slot on both the backpack and Terrain Tool and remains idle, they can breathe untethered for about 16 minutes.
• Running with the same full load reduces untethered breathing time to about 12 minutes.

Because it stores a full backpack’s worth of Oxygen, the Oxygen Tank is one of the most direct ways to increase survivability during long trips away from a tether network. It is especially effective when combined with other Oxygen Tanks, since each additional tank adds the same fixed reserve and is drained in sequence before the backpack’s main supply.
