Graphene

Graphene is a refined resource used in advanced crafting and for activating Gateway Engines. It is a late-game material in Astroneer, so it sits above basic minerals and processed resources in the progression path. Players usually obtain it after establishing a stable supply chain for its ingredients and then use it to unlock higher-tier equipment and infrastructure.

Graphene is used to craft several items, though the exact recipe list is not shown here. It is also required to activate Gateway Engines, making it important for planetary progression and for reaching or powering key endgame structures. Because of that, it is worth keeping some on hand once you are able to produce it reliably.

A notable quirk is that Hydrazine containers can be reused for Graphene crafting even after they have been partially emptied. There was also a glitch where non-full Hydrazine canisters could still be used to make Graphene, which made the resource easier to produce than intended in earlier versions.
