Provides sustained directional flight. Consumes Hydrazine as fuel.

Overview

The Hydrazine Jet Pack is a backpack flight module that allows the player to fly as long as it has Hydrazine fuel. It occupies one of the two backpack gadget slots and can be used on its own; a single unit is enough to provide stable flight, though the thrust is slightly asymmetric. A second jet pack increases thrust and overall speed.

To use it, the Hydrazine Jet Pack must be equipped in a backpack gadget slot and supplied with Hydrazine. Spare Hydrazine stored in the backpack will automatically move into the jet pack’s fuel slot, allowing continuous flight as long as reserve fuel is available. When the currently fitted tank starts running low, the jet pack’s status lights begin blinking. If no spare Hydrazine is available, the thrust sound lowers in pitch to warn the player of an impending fall.

Partially used Hydrazine tanks cannot be removed from the jet pack; they must be fully emptied before they can be refilled. This makes fuel management important when planning longer trips or extended vertical travel.

While flying, the player can carry much more than they can on foot. It is possible to hold Tier 2 items in both hands, including storage modules loaded with extra items and Hydrazine, an active Winch attached to otherwise immovable large objects, or even float a Large Tier 3 object such as packed Extra Large modules and item crates. This makes the jet pack especially useful for moving bulky equipment and supplies between bases, landing zones, and caves.

The maximum altitude the player can reach is the same as the cloud layer, so the Hydrazine Jet Pack is best thought of as a powerful mobility tool rather than unlimited atmospheric flight. Even so, it is one of the most versatile traversal items in the game because it combines vertical movement with item transport.

  • One Hydrazine Jet Pack is enough to fly safely, but a second increases thrust and speed.
  • Spare Hydrazine in the backpack is automatically transferred into the jet pack’s fuel slot.
  • Blinking status lights indicate low fuel.
  • A lowered thrust sound warns that fuel is nearly exhausted.
  • Partially used tanks must be fully depleted before they can be refilled.
  • While flying, the player can carry and move large or awkward objects that would otherwise be difficult to transport.
