Overview

Executor is a condemned Crucible Knight and Nightfarer who wields a cursed katana called Executor's Blade. Originally from the Land of Reeds, he was imprisoned in the Borderlands and later vanished from records. When present in the campaign he is a playable character; if not selected he appears at the Roundtable Hold. The Executor's theme centers on rapid, reflexive katana combat, deflection mechanics, and symbiosis with a living, blood-drenched blade.

The character is built around a unique unsheath-style skill (Cursed Blade / Unsheath) that emphasizes timed deflects. Successful deflections imbue the sword with a gold sheen and open a window to perform powerful follow-up attacks. The Cursed Blade skill prevents running while the cursed sword is drawn, and repeated deflections “reveal” the living weapon, enabling stronger strikes; unlocking the cursed sword while the skill is active restores HP. Executor's passive Tenacity grants boosts while recovering from status ailments, increasing attack and stamina recovery speed. His Ultimate Art, Aspects of the Crucible: Beast, transforms him into a primordial beast with unique attacks that drain the Ultimate Art gauge and can be toggled again to revert quickly.

Starting equipment includes Executor's Blade (katana with Unsheath; listed damage examples include roughly 62 Physical + 30 Blood Loss) and the Suncatcher katana as an alternate. The character favors katanas and scales notably into Strength and Dexterity attributes at low level; sample level 15 scaling lists STR ~25 (C) and MND/FTH/INT values at lower ranks (sources list MND 11 (D), INT 8 (D), FTH 6 (D)). Executor also has several unique relic effects tied to his kit: his character skill boosts attack but costs HP when attacking, roaring while art is active restores HP, and some deep relics trade changes to stats (for example, boosts to Dexterity and Arcane at the cost of Vigor).

Strategic notes and recommended builds:

  • Playstyle focuses on one-on-one katana duels: capitalize on timed deflects to gold the blade, then unleash the Unsheath follow-ups for high single-target damage and bleed application.
  • Relics that add bleed/frostbite to starting armament, convert skills to Seppuku/Chilling Mist, or increase katana attack power are high priority. Effects that restore HP on ability use or after post-damage attacks synergize strongly with the Executor's self-damaging skill interactions.
  • Stamina recovery on successful attack, continuous FP recovery, and flat physical attack increases further support aggressive, hit-and-run swordplay.
  • The Ultimate Beast transformation is an offensive tool that consumes the Ultimate gauge; use it to extend combos or finish encounters where sustained aggression is required, and note that Roaring during the art can restore HP if the matching relic is equipped.
  • Executor excels at duels and encounters where precision deflect timing and mobility are possible; the inability to run while the cursed blade is readied forces players to commit to close-range engagements or sheathe to reposition.
  • Recommended stat focus: Strength and Dexterity to enhance katana damage, with investment into Arcane when pursuing certain relic effects that scale or provide bonuses via Arcane.

Acquisition and progression:

  • Executor is selectable as a player character at the start of an expedition; completing his Remembrance quest unlocks a Remembrance cosmetic and related chalice options. Various chalices, goblets and urns tied to Executor become available through quest completion, purchases from the Small Jar Bazaar, or the Collector Signboard. Cosmetics and alternate garb are unlocked through defeating Nightlords, completing the Remembrance, or purchasing with Sovereign Sigils.

Notes of interest:

  • The Executor is implied to possess a complex identity: his Remembrance suggests he holds two souls, one of which is identified as the Painter, and his journal refers to “two faces, one sword.” Promotional and gallery art highlights the gold-toned blade when empowered and multiple renderings of the character appear in official media.
