Official description

A trap that chains electricity to approaching enemies. Shocks all it touches, but weakens over distance.

Overview

Electric Trap is a defensive building that attacks enemies that pass over it, making it useful for setting up kill zones along natural enemy paths in the same way as Spike Trap. Its main strength is that the first enemy to trigger it takes 16 damage, and the damage decreases by 1 each time the electricity jumps to another target, so it is most effective when enemies are grouped together or funneled through a narrow route.

Because it functions as a path-based trap, Electric Trap works best when placed where enemies are forced to walk. It can be used alongside other defenses to thin out waves before they reach important structures. Combined with Earthquaker, it can completely shut down weasels by itself, making the pair a strong option for especially troublesome routes.

A few practical points matter when using it:

  • Place it directly on an enemy route rather than in open ground, or it will do little for you.
  • Since the damage drops with each chain jump, it is strongest against clustered enemies and weaker against isolated targets.
  • It can be repaired by building a Ladder, repairing from an angle, or assigning drones to the job.
  • Tesla Tower connections can occasionally disconnect, so keeping at least one Maintenance Office nearby is a good precaution.
  • If there is nothing else for them to do, workers assigned to maintenance will help with miscellaneous tasks instead of sitting idle.
  • Surveillance Camera does not affect its combat performance; it is mainly for atmosphere.

Overall, Electric Trap is a straightforward but efficient defense for holding choke points, especially when paired with other area-denial tools.
