Piled up snow. Becomes water, not spring, when melts.

Overview

Snow is a seasonal material that can accumulate outdoors during winter. It can also be obtained as an item by mining it once it has piled up on the map. Because snow naturally appears in the world rather than being crafted, it is often gathered as a convenient winter resource rather than produced deliberately.

A useful way to collect large amounts of Snow is to build two stacked Ladder segments at a height somewhat above the ground, then extend them horizontally. Snow will pile up on top of the ladders, making it much easier to harvest in bulk. This setup also has a practical defensive benefit: by allowing snow to accumulate on the Ladder structure instead of on walkable ground, it can help prevent Ratizens from becoming stranded when heavy snowfall blocks movement.

Snow tiles disappear when spring arrives, but Snow as an item remains in storage and on the map unless it hits the map’s item limit. This makes mined Snow more reliable than leaving it as a tile if you want to keep it for later use. Its main applications are as an ingredient for Ice Cream at the Bakery and as a construction resource for Ice Block. Ice Cream is a very strong food because it grants a +20% work speed bonus, while Ice Block provides one of the highest movement bonuses in the game alongside Jungle Block, making it an excellent material for improving city travel efficiency.

  • Snow is seasonal and appears outdoors in winter.
  • It can be mined into an item for storage and later use.
  • Building horizontal sections of Ladder above the ground encourages Snow to pile up for easy collection.
  • Using Ladders as collection points can also reduce the risk of Ratizens being trapped by snowfall.
  • Spring removes Snow tiles, but mined Snow stays available unless the map’s item cap is reached.
  • Main uses: Ice Cream production at the Bakery and Ice Block construction.
