Leveling Guide: Fast XP, Rune Tree & Slot 3
Leveling determines how strong your heroes and units become, what slots and passives you can unlock, and how far you can push through acts. This page explains how experience works, what to spend it on, efficient farming and rune priorities, and advanced upgrades that extend level caps.
How experience is gained
- Combat grants EXP by killing enemies and clearing stages. Keep your party within about +6 levels of the stage for efficient EXP; attacking stages more than +10 levels above your party causes a large penalty to EXP.
- You can consume experience items (“強化データ” / Enhancement Data) to raise unit, hero, or supporter levels without fighting. These items come in rarities and grant fixed EXP amounts (examples: N/RS/R/SR tiers — higher rarity = more EXP). They stack in inventory (max was raised to 99,999).
- Offline/auto systems (runes and Rune of Repose) can provide passive Gold and EXP while you are away once unlocked.
Level caps and special state changes
- Units normally have level caps based on rarity. Certain systems increase caps:
- SP化 (specialization/awakening) raises stats, sets a uniform maximum level to 100, and for SR-and-below can add or strengthen skills and abilities.
- 改LV (Kai-LV) is an additional enhancement unlocked after SSP化 that grants percent stat increases per tier. 改LV1 gives ≈0.3% to stats; 改LV10 yields roughly 3% total. Advancing 改LV to 10 consumes many SSR experience materials (total SSR required up to 改LV10 is 1250).
- Maxing a unit’s level (Level MAX) is a tracked objective for some missions. Planning development order so prereq units reach Level MAX before evolving/developing successors can net mission progress faster.
Runes and long-term progression (what to prioritize)
- The Rune Tree is the core long-term progression engine. It is unlocked at hero level 3 and is purchased with Gold.
- Early priorities:
- Unlock Rune of War and Rune of Growth to progress toward Rune of Command (this path adds extra party slots).
- Unlock Rune of Wealth and Rune of Expansion to reveal Rune of Repose (offline Gold and EXP).
- Unlock Rune of Awakening to open an extra skill slot (important for multi-skill heroes like
Priest).
- The third hero/slot typically costs around 150,000 gold along the Rune path; save gold early to afford node unlocks.
- Invest Rune points into automation, offline rewards, and additional slots before spending on marginal stat nodes.
Practical leveling strategy and farming
- Early game recommended farm stages: repeat 1-8 or 1-9 to gather XP, low-level gear, and early pet unlocks. Pets like the bat significantly boost long-term XP and drops.
- If you hit a wall on an act boss, use the Blue Portal to retreat and farm earlier stages for gear and levels — Soul Stones are only consumed when you beat the boss, so you can retry the boss freely.
- Use Auto-retry and offline Rune benefits for passive leveling when you cannot play actively.
- Prioritize unlocking a second hero (commonly a
Priest with Blessing of Might or healing build) as this increases survivability and raises clear speed for farming.
Managing experience resources
- Plan development/evolution chains so you can hit multiple Level MAX counts efficiently (develop predecessors to max before using them as materials) if you chase “Level MAX” mission rewards.
- Use excess units or those you will never raise to obtain materials for evolving or to recycle into newer units; SSR experience materials are the limiting currency for high-level enhancement and 改LV.
- When short on progression materials, farm stages with high drop rates for the specific gear or experience items you need.
Advanced upgrades and endgame
- 改LV progression opens custom core unlocks as tiers increase; full 改LV progression to 10 requires significant SSR material investment (total SSR requirement 1250) and yields incremental stat increases culminating around 3% at 改LV10.
- SP化 elevates units to universal higher caps and can add or improve abilities. SP’ing a unit makes it stronger late-game but consumes resources; use on units you intend to keep long-term.
- Continue expanding the Rune Tree for automation and extra slots — these reduce active grind and unlock steady offline gains which are essential in the mid-to-late game.
Quick checklist
- Keep party level within +6 of target stage for efficient XP.
- Farm 1-8/1-9 early for XP and pet progression.
- Unlock Rune of Command (party slots) and Rune of Repose (offline EXP) early.
- Save gold for Rune path nodes (third slot ≈ 150,000 gold).
- Use Enhancement Data items to top off levels and reserve SSR EXP for 改LV and SP化.
- Use Blue Portal to retreat and farm if stuck on a boss; retries cost nothing until you clear.
