Overview

The Carousel is a Folktails-exclusive building that functions as a powered, multi-level structure used to house Folktails. It was introduced at the game's Early Access launch and became exclusive to the Folktails faction in Update 5; older versions of the building existed for the Iron Teeth but are now obsolete. The Carousel sits with its entrance one block above the ground level on which it is placed, and its power input is located on the center block at ground level on all four faces.

Carousels provide housing capacity for Folktails and integrate into a settlement’s power grid. They occupy a multi-block footprint and present a vertical layout that centralizes access and services; the central ground-level block serves as the power connection while the elevated entrance provides internal circulation between levels. The building appears in dedicated builds and in active settlements as a focal housing structure for Folktails.

Practical notes for placement and use:

  • The entrance must be placed one block above the ground; plan terrain and walkways accordingly to provide access.
  • Connect power to the center ground-level face to enable the Carousel’s functions; any of the four center faces can accept the power input.
  • Because the Carousel is Folktails-only, Iron Teeth settlements cannot use it; Iron Teeth rely on their unique housing types (barracks and rowhouses) and a different reproduction requirement.
  • The Carousel’s vertical design is suited to dense builds where ground footprint is limited but upward space is available.
  • Older artwork and variants exist showing an Iron Teeth version and earlier Folktails visuals; these are obsolete and replaced by the current Folktails-exclusive model.
