Carrots

Overview

Carrots are a basic crop in Timberborn grown on irrigated farmland. Each fully grown carrot tile yields three carrots when harvested. Carrot tiles are not aquatic crops and are managed through the farmhouse building, which can plant and assign workers to tend carrot crops alongside sunflower, potato, and wheat. Carrot tiles take four days to reach maturity from planting.

Beavers perform harvesting and planting tasks for carrot crops. Harvesting destroys the carrot tile (the tile is cleared after harvest), and harvested carrots can be stored in colony storage handled by the same workforce that manages farm duties. Carrot tiles will be harvested automatically even if the plot is not marked for immediate replanting. Builders can manually destroy carrot tiles, but destroying a carrot tile does not yield any carrots. After a tile is harvested, it takes roughly two days to dry out before it can be irrigated and replanted.

The Folktails faction can use beehives to accelerate crop growth, which applies to carrots as well and increases overall farm productivity. Carrots are listed among the basic crop types in the game alongside sunflower, potato, wheat, cattail, and spadderdock, with carrots being one of the fastest-growing non-aquatic crops.

  • Growth time: 4 days per carrot tile.
  • Yield: 3 carrots per harvested tile.
  • Aquatic: No; carrots are planted on irrigated land via the farmhouse.
  • Harvest behavior: Harvesting destroys the tile; tiles are harvested automatically even when not scheduled for replanting.
  • Tile destruction: Builders can destroy tiles but receive no carrots from destruction.
  • Drying: Tiles dry out in about 2 days after harvest before they can be replanted.
  • Boosts: Beehives (Folktails faction) increase crop growth rates and benefit carrot production.

Use carrot plots for a quick, steady source of food and raw crop goods, and pair farm planning with irrigation and beehives where available to maximize throughput. Ensure adequate workforce assignment to the farmhouse to keep planting and harvesting cycles uninterrupted.
