Scrapshot

Scrapshot is a firearm that becomes available around the same time as the Pipe Pistol and uses craftable ammunition. It holds only one shot at a time and must be reloaded after every shot, but it trades that limitation for much higher burst damage at close range.

Compared with the Pipe Pistol, Scrapshot has only two-thirds of the durability, but it deals 12×9 damage, which can make it hit for roughly double the Pipe Pistol’s damage. That makes it especially effective for sneak attacks at point-blank range, where landing the opening shot matters more than sustained fire.

Its main drawback is its handling. Scrapshot has a long charge-up period of more than a second between pulling the trigger and actually firing, which makes it poor at hitting fast-moving targets. The reload is also very slow, so if the target survives the first shot it is often better to switch immediately to another weapon rather than wait for another round.
