Shredshot

Overview

The design emphasis of
Operational and interaction notes:
- The weapon is a coil gun, meaning it accelerates projectiles electromagnetically rather than using chemical propellants. This underpins its feel and explains the need for rapid-charge energy storage.
- Micro-detonation on impact is an integral effect: on hit, projectiles trigger a localized detonation event at the impact point. The weapon is built to exploit that effect through its capacitor-driven discharge.
- Extended magazine capacity is a core attribute; the design trade-off favors more shots per reload while retaining the break-action reloading animation and sequence.
- Rapid-charge ultracapacitors supply short-duration high-current bursts required for the micro-detonation effect and for quickly restoring firing readiness between shots.
- Reloading has distinct visual sequences: the weapon features a standard shooting animation and multiple reloading animations that vary by reload level, including animations recorded for low-level reloads (levels 0–9) and a separate animation for higher-level reloads (level 20). These animations reflect the break-action servicing of the chamber and magazine.
- The break-action form factor affects how reload interruptions and shot timing behave; expect reloads to follow the hinge-open, service, hinge-close cycle characteristic of folding/hinged firearms.
