Storage Battery

Storage Battery is a power infrastructure building used to store electricity and distribute it through the settlement’s power network. It connects to nearby power lines and transmission blocks, making it a key part of any grid that needs to keep working when generation drops or demand spikes.

A Storage Battery can connect from any of the six surrounding tiles, excluding diagonals. This makes placement straightforward: it does not need to be perfectly lined up in a special orientation, but it does need to be built close enough to the network to link directly. Because of that, it is usually best placed along an existing power route rather than isolated off to the side.

It also works normally when placed adjacent to a power-generating facility. That means it can be installed right beside generators without interfering with their function, which is useful when you want a compact power room or a short, efficient connection between production and storage.

Practical use notes:

• Place Storage Batteries near transmission blocks or Transmission Wire so they can join the grid immediately.
• Since they connect in the six adjacent non-diagonal tiles, keep their position aligned with the path of your power infrastructure.
• They are well suited for buffering power output from generators, especially when production is inconsistent or when a sudden burst of demand would otherwise cause shortages.
• Building them next to generators is safe and convenient, allowing compact power setups without needing extra spacing.

In practice, Storage Battery is most valuable when used as part of a larger power system rather than as a standalone building. A stable grid with generation, transmission, and storage together makes it easier to keep powered facilities running even when electricity supply fluctuates.
