beginner

StarRupture is a base-building mission where you unlock buildings and production by earning Data Points in the Analyzing Station and spending them at the Corporate Terminal. Early choices determine how smoothly your colony gathers resources, produces materials, and defends itself. This beginner guide covers the first essentials: what to unlock first, how to extract and process ore, basic production chain buildings, and early defense and survival facilities.

How progression and unlocking works

Key early-level rewards you will encounter:

Plan your Data Point spending: prioritize buildings that unlock resource gathering and processing early (Analyzing Station, Ore Excavator, Smelter, Fabricator).

Early resource acquisition

  • Ore Excavator: the primary early building for obtaining basic ores. It is crucial in early game because it automates extraction from deposits.
    • Placement restrictions: can be built only on Titanium, Wolfram, and Calcium deposits. Place Excavators directly on these deposits to harvest material.
  • Orbital Cargo Launcher: available immediately from Training Corporation LVL1 and via other corporations at level rewards. Use it to receive orbital deliveries when available; it speeds access to items you cannot produce yet.

Processing and crafting chain (early to mid)

  • Smelter (Training Corporation LVL4): turn mined ore into refined bars. Unlock this early to convert raw Titanium/Wolfram/Calcium into usable materials for buildings and components.
  • Furnace (Selenian Corporation LVL4): another thermal processing building in the Selenian line; include it when you need higher-tier smelting or different recipes offered by Selenian tech.
  • Fabricator (Selenian Corporation LVL2): the basic crafting station for producing parts and tools from refined materials. Useful immediately after you have basic bars.
  • Mega Press (Selenian Corporation LVL7): higher-throughput press for industrial components; bring this online when you need mass-produced parts.
  • Assembler (Selenian Corporation LVL10): advanced production for complex items and assembly-line recipes. This is a late-Selenian milestone for producing higher-tier equipment and modules.

Recommendation: follow a progression path of Analyzing StationOre ExcavatorSmelterFabricatorMega PressAssembler. This sequence gets you from raw ore to finished components with minimal downtime.

Survival and habitability

  • Food Station (Future Health Solutions LVL5): unlock and build as soon as you can to stabilize duplicant nutrition and morale. Food production is a core need comparable to resource processing.

Defense and early combat

  • Defense Turret (Griffits Blue LVL6): a basic automated gun for local defense. Install to protect key infrastructure against early threats.
  • Defense Tower (Griffits Blue LVL9): a stronger defensive structure with extended coverage and durability. Use towers to secure larger or more valuable areas once you can afford higher-level Griffits Blue rewards.

When to prioritize defense:

  • Place at choke points around extractors, smelters, and the Corporate Terminal if you expect raider or environmental attacks.
  • Early turrets are sufficient for isolated threats; add towers when facing waves or larger enemies.

Base layout and platform planning

  • Basic Platforms and Advanced Platforms (Training Corporation LVL1 and LVL5 rewards): use platforms to expand buildable area and create organized production zones.
  • Platform Modules and Advanced Habitat Modules (Training Corporation LVL5): deploy modules to expand habitable space and organize craft/processing facilities. Keep production (smelters, furnaces) separated from living/food areas to simplify routing and defense.

Practical layout tips:

  • Cluster extractors near ore patches and route refined output to nearby smelters to reduce transport cost/time.
  • Put Fabricator and downstream production close to smelters to form a compact production hub.
  • Reserve space for defense turrets/towers around the hub and near orbital landing/launch points.

Early strategic priorities (summary)

  • Unlock and build the Analyzing Station immediately to generate Data Points.
  • Spend early Data Points on Ore Excavator and Smelter to establish a self-sustaining material chain.
  • Add a Fabricator to convert refined bars into useful parts.
  • Prioritize a Food Station soon after basic production to secure duplicant survival.
  • Add defensive turrets and later towers to protect resource and production hubs.
  • Expand using Basic/Advanced Platforms and modules to keep production efficient and defensible.
  • Progress down the Selenian line (Mega Press → Assembler) when you need higher-throughput and advanced items.

Keep your unlock path focused: get extraction, refining, and basic fabrication first, then layer in food and defense. That order keeps early gameplay smooth and sets you up for mid-game industrial scaling.
