Queen Bee

Overview
Queen Bee is a pre-Hardmode boss found in the Underground Jungle. She is summoned by breaking the Larva inside a
Queen Bee has three main attack patterns. She first levels herself horizontally with the player and charges back and forth three times in an attempt to ram them. She also hovers while spawning Bees, including larger Bees in Expert Mode, and can summon 6, 12, or 18 at a time. Her third attack is a rapid stinger barrage, in which she fires large yellow projectiles that visibly pulse before striking, similar to Hornets. In this pattern she alternates between hovering above the player and swooping down from above. The stingers can inflict Poisoned, and in Expert Mode direct contact with Queen Bee also inflicts Poisoned.
In Expert Mode, her attacks become faster as her health decreases, and her charge sequences grow in both speed and number. At low health, she can perform up to six charges in a row before switching attacks. Her defense also rises based on how much health she has left, up to a maximum of 28. Outside the Underground Jungle, she enrages and becomes much more aggressive, firing stingers far faster. Fighting her in the surface Jungle or another Underground biome still enrages her, but less severely than in other surface biomes.
Unlike most bosses, Queen Bee does not despawn when far away from the player; instead, she continues charging after them. This makes teleporting away risky, since she will follow across the map and may enrage if taken outside the Jungle. In multiplayer, if the whole party fighting her dies at once and other players remain alive, she will pursue the surviving players no matter the distance until she changes aggro naturally. The only way to properly despawn her without killing her is for every player in the world to die at the same time.
- Honey found in Bee Hives can be used for
Bottled Honey and for passive healing during the fight, but standing in it slows movement significantly.
- A
Bezoar helps counter Poisoned, especially in Expert and Master Mode where the debuff lasts much longer.
- Bees are weak in Classic difficulty and can be cleared quickly with a spinning flail, but they become dangerous in Expert and Master Mode.
- Bees will target enemies that are closer than the player, so statue-spawned enemies or trapped mobs can distract them.
- Lightning Aura sentries and Explosive Trap sentries can wipe out Bees effectively when placed nearby.
- A
Cobalt Shield or
Obsidian Shield helps resist knockback from Bees, and a grappling hook can also help anchor the player.
- The Shield of Cthulhu can be used to block Queen Bee’s charges with well-timed dashes, though this becomes less reliable as her speed increases.
- For ranged builds, bows with piercing arrows such as Unholy Arrows or Jester's Arrows are effective for clearing summoned Bees quickly.
