Overview

Numbercruncher is an automated industrial building that performs resource processing in Timberborn. It functions without assigned workers and therefore continues to operate when flooded, making it usable underwater and resistant to labor shortages caused by disaster events. Numbercruncher occupies a place in late-game production chains where high-throughput, unattended processing is required.

Numbercruncher does not use timberborn workers; it is fully automated. Because it has no workforce requirement it remains active during floods and other conditions that incapacitate workers, allowing continuous production in submerged or otherwise inaccessible locations. This makes Numbercruncher particularly suitable for installations that must keep running regardless of water levels or for isolated outposts connected by conveyor or logistic links.

Construction and progression place Numbercruncher in advanced manufacturing tiers. Its historic cost was changed post-release: the initial build requirement was 30 Plank, 100 Gear, and 25 Metal Block and was later adjusted to 30 Plank, 100 Gear, and 50 Metal Part. Numbercruncher was added to the game during an early update and has since served as a non-worker-dependent processing option.

  • Because it requires no workers, Numbercruncher should be integrated into networks where human labor is scarce or where flooding is expected.
  • Place Numbercruncher in flooded production zones or behind floodgates without concern for worker access.
  • Pair Numbercrunchers with upstream automated transport (conveyors, drones, or other logistic mechanics) to maximize throughput and avoid manual hauling bottlenecks.
  • Monitor input/output storage to prevent stalling: as with other automated buildings, its continuous operation can be limited by full output containers or lack of inputs.
