Chestnuts

Chestnuts are a natural good in Timberborn that serve as an early-game food resource and an element of the nutrition system. They spawn on Chestnut Trees, which appear as natural structures across most maps. Chestnuts are harvested by a Forager or a designated Workbench action at a Harvester building and can be stored in a stockpile for later use. They are also plantable: players can sow Chestnuts using the Planter to grow new Chestnut Trees and secure a renewable supply.

Chestnuts satisfy the Nutrition need for beavers. Meeting Nutrition increases a beaver's overall condition; failing to meet it reduces movement speed and work contribution as part of Basic Needs penalties. Chestnuts are accessible and renewable, making them suitable for sustaining a growing population before more advanced food production is available. They integrate with the game's systems for storage, planting, and worker assignment and are considered part of the supply chain that supports other needs and boosts.

• Chestnut Trees spawn naturally on most maps; harvesting requires assigning a worker to the tree or using a harvesting building that targets natural goods.
• Stored chestnuts occupy generic food storage and count toward your available nutrition stock; keep them near residences or workplaces to reduce travel time.
• Planting chestnuts with a Planter converts the good into a sapling that grows into a new Chestnut Tree, enabling long-term sustainability rather than sole reliance on wild spawns.
