Overview
The
Foreshadow is a 4x4 long-range heavy turret that appears on the planet
Serpulo. It fires a single, extremely powerful RailBullet using
Surge Alloy as ammunition and also consumes electrical power to operate. Designed to punish high-health, slow-moving targets, the
Foreshadow out-ranges nearly all other turrets on its planet and specializes in one-shot or near one-shot kills of
Tier 5 units and other bulky targets.
The turret uses
Surge Alloy ammo of the RailBulletType that deals 1350 damage per shot, has pierce (bullets decay only on blocks), and has a reduced building damage multiplier when hitting structures. Each shot consumes 5 Surge Alloy (changed from 4 in a later build) and substantial energy; the turret therefore requires both a steady ammo supply and a power network. The projectile is very slow in rate of fire and the turret rotates relatively slowly, so its DPS is concentrated on a single target rather than distributed across many foes.
Foreshadow excels at defending against isolated high-HP attackers and long-range sniping of critical units. It pairs well with rapid-firing area-effect turrets (such as
Cyclone or
Swarmer) that handle swarms and low-tier spam while the
Foreshadow focuses single-target elimination.
Overdrive Projectors (including
Overdrive Dome) provide much more efficient performance boosts than continuously supplying boost liquids like
Pooled Cryofluid, because liquid boosting is consumed rapidly and grants comparatively little effect. The
Foreshadow does not inflict the
Shocked status despite using
Surge Alloy, so it receives no bonus versus
Wet units.
In offensive maps, Foreshadows represent a serious hazard to player units because of their extreme range: no unit can reliably out-range a
Foreshadow. Counters include heavy single-target tanks (Oct,
Reign) that can soak shots due to their high HP, accompanied by healing such as Repair Turrets or Velas. Example healing benchmarks that overcome an unboosted
Foreshadow (~405 DPS effective building reduction applied if noted) include three unboosted Repair Turrets or three Velas; combining Repair Turrets with
Pooled Cryofluid boosts reduces the required support. Swarms of cheap units can overwhelm a
Foreshadow by forcing it to waste its costly shots and long cooldowns; using low-cost units like
Flares to bait shots is an effective tactic if you can absorb or ignore the turret’s focused fire.
Zenith kamikaze attacks can destroy isolated Foreshadows when timed correctly but are risky if anti-swarm defenses are present.
In PvP, the
Foreshadow functions like a high-risk, high-reward long-range sniper: it is devastating against single targets but vulnerable to unit spam and resource-exhaustion tactics. Its automatic targeting prioritizes the bulkiest unit, so massing many light units does not reliably draw fire away from a single high-value target. Economically, each shot is expensive in
Surge Alloy and energy, so forcing an opponent to waste shots on cheap disposable units is a common counterplay. Because of its extreme characteristics, Foreshadows are more suited to very large maps and staged endgame defenses where infrastructure supports their power and ammo needs.
Historically, the
Foreshadow was introduced in the 6.0 builds and has received several adjustments: changes to rotation speed and coolant effectiveness, a shift to RailBulletType with added pierce, and an ammo-per-shot increase to 5. The turret is unique on
Serpulo for dealing more than 1000 damage per shot.
