Hexwood Shield

The wood of this shield seems to spread and grow with a will of its own, or maybe with the will of the wielder. It is difficult to tell.
Overview
The Hexwood Shield is a light wooden shield that appears in
The shield is commonly obtained in Canaan by destroying Hexed Trees. It can also be salvaged from specific weapons —

Durability and regeneration behave idiosyncratically. The listed durability is 30, but the game considers the shield fully repaired only when its durability is above 30, so repaired values will continue to increase until they reach either 31 or 32. The item cannot be repaired through normal repair mechanics; instead it passively regenerates 2 durability every 60 seconds.
The Hexwood Shield can produce a short-lived
A broken-state quirk is known: if the shield breaks in combat, it may continue to behave as if broken even after its durability regenerates, failing to block subsequent incoming attacks. This persistent broken-state can be corrected by unequipping the shield and then re-equipping it.
Practical usage and tips:
- Use the Hexwood Shield where light projectile reflection is valuable; it will not reflect heavier projectile classes.
- Rely on its passive durability regen for long explorations, but be aware that the item cannot be repaired by conventional means.
- Because full repair is considered >30 durability, expect the displayed value to climb slightly beyond the listed 30 when restoring.
- Do not depend on the Snag Vine effect as a consistent crowd-control tool; it is rare and location-dependent due to a spawn-position bug.
- If the shield fails to block after breaking and later regaining durability, unequip and re-equip it to restore normal blocking behavior.
