Overview
The Sniper is an Order soldier encountered in Abiotic Factor who engages targets on sight with long-range precision. It is one of the more dangerous human enemies because it can track players accurately and its rifle fire is extremely lethal, capable of killing most targets in only a few shots. Snipers are also distinguished by a bright orange laser sight that reveals whom they are aiming at, making it possible to read their target before they fire.
In combat, Snipers rely on maintaining distance and pressuring the player with a fast rate of fire. If line of sight is broken, they continue facing the last direction they saw the player, which makes cover and repositioning important. Their shots can inflict heavy bleeding, so bringing enough Bandages, or Tech Bandages if available, is strongly recommended. Despite their lethality, Snipers are physically weak compared with other Order soldiers and cannot absorb much damage once exposed.
- Use solid cover to block their line of fire, then move quickly when crossing open ground.
- Watch the orange laser to identify when a Sniper is actively aiming at you.
- If you break line of sight, they will keep facing your last known position, which can be used to set up a safer approach.
- Their vulnerability means they can be eliminated quickly if you can close the distance or land accurate shots first.
- After unlocking and crafting the Crystalline Armor Set, wearing the full set while crouched and not attacking makes Snipers unable to see you, allowing a stealth approach as long as you do not break stealth.
Snipers are part of the Sagittari order, as noted in the GATE Compendium entry, which ties them to a secretive lineage of disciplined archers. This background fits their role as elite ranged enemies within the Order hierarchy.
Their drops make them worth hunting once you can handle them efficiently. Common loot includes
