Grinder Disc

Grinder Disc is a craftable ammunition item used by certain weapons. It is a reusable-looking metal disc in practice treated as expendable ammo, and it can be found early enough that players can keep a steady supply if they know where to look.

It can be obtained through crafting or by looting Mine Crates in several areas, including Manufacturing West. It also appears as a repeatable pickup from some wooden boxes in train cars, and some discs can be recovered from enemy corpses by taking them directly from the body.

A few details are worth keeping in mind when collecting them:

• If a corpse is harvested, any Grinder Discs stuck to it are destroyed.
• The Vacuum can retrieve discs from corpses safely, including ones that are hard to reach by hand because of the body’s position.
• In Manufacturing West, discs can be found inside and outside the Supply Room, by the elevator down from the Control Tower in the radioactive waste and container area, in the mines near the green pipe that requires an Optic Lens, in the area with the Synchrotron, and inside Shipping.

Grinder Discs are consumed by compatible weapons as ammunition, so they are best treated as a specialty resource rather than general scrap. Because they can be recovered from corpses and certain containers, it is often efficient to collect them while clearing enemies instead of relying only on crafting.
