Overview

Tech Sceptre is a common crafting resource used for several electronics-related recipes and for extending power cables. When dragging a cable, a blue or red placement icon appears on nearby surfaces: blue means an extension can be placed, while red means the target is too far away. Clicking when the icon is blue places the extension and continues the cable run.

It is found throughout the game and can be obtained by salvaging certain items or by breaking Monitors, Printers, and Hydro Panels. A reliable way to collect large amounts of Tech Sceptre is to kill Order enemies and salvage the Military Electronics they drop, since each one yields 3 Tech Sceptre. Because it is common and appears in many indoor areas, it is usually worth salvaging whenever you are clearing offices or facilities with lots of electronics.

Good places to farm Tech Sceptre include:

  • Fragments, by breaking Monitors in the building with some Gatekeepers and the machine that requires a Motion Module, and by breaking Monitors and Hydro Panels in the Botanical Wing
  • Cascade Laboratories, especially the office area near Janet and Abe, the lab overlooking the Lobby, the Lobby and Particle Lab through Electro-Pests, and the small upstairs office in Adjustment on Level 3
  • Reactors, in the Mist Reactor area inside the Supply Room, and by breaking Hydro Panels in the area with Hydroplant Zombies and a Corrupted Robot
  • Office Sector, in Data Farm on Level 2 and Executive Offices on Level 3
  • Flathill, in office areas throughout the zone, especially the Courthouse
  • Manufacturing West, in offices across the Garage, Shipping, and Caves

Because Tech Sceptre is needed both as a material and for cable expansion, it is one of the more useful salvage resources to keep on hand. If you are setting up a base or routing power through a large area, it is worth holding onto extra stacks rather than immediately converting every piece into other materials.
