Lode Disc

Lode Disc is an ammunition-type item described as a disc from another world that ignites targets, and its ignition effect functions even against armored enemies. It functions as a special ammo that several weapons accept in their ammo slots; weapons that reference the Lode Disc in their ammo configuration can load and fire it as part of their normal attack cycles.

The disc’s primary mechanical effect is to apply fire/ignition on hit, bypassing armor protection to set targets ablaze. This makes Lode Disc particularly useful against heavily armored foes that are resistant to conventional status or elemental application through normal physical attacks.

Practical usage and interaction notes:

• Weapons and compatibility: The Lode Disc serves as an alternate ammo type for specific weapons that list it as a valid ammo item. Consult a weapon’s ammo configuration to determine whether it can accept Lode Discs.
• Retrieval from corpses: Some Lode Discs can be recovered from enemy corpses by picking them up directly. Manual harvesting of remains can destroy discs that are embedded in or attached to the corpse. To avoid accidental destruction, use the Vacuum tool when available to collect discs from corpses safely; the Vacuum can retrieve discs even when the corpse’s position prevents direct manual pickup.
• Behavior against the Reaper: Firing a Lode Disc at the Reaper will dismiss him and cause him to drop a Night Essence. If the sawblade-type Lode Disc becomes stuck in the Reaper (i.e., it is not destroyed on impact), the disc will reappear at the Reaper’s position after the dismissal animation (phasing or sinking into the floor) completes.
• Tactical considerations: Because Lode Discs ignite through armor, they are effective for initiating burn damage on armored targets where other elemental effects might fail to apply. Use them to start damage-over-time effects that bypass armor thresholds or to trigger synergies that rely on burning status.
• Conservation and recovery: Recovering fired discs from the environment or from defeated enemies can conserve resources. Prioritize Vacuum retrieval in scenarios with multiple corpses or where corpses are unreachable to maximize recovery and avoid losing usable discs.

Lode Disc occupies a niche role as an armor-penetrating incendiary ammo with specific interactions that reward careful retrieval and target selection. Use it on armored elites and unique enemies where ignition yields tactical advantage, and plan for recovery when possible to maintain supply.
