A disc from another world, capable of igniting targets, even through armor.

Overview

Lode Disc is an ammunition item used by several weapons. It is found as a recoverable projectile rather than a simple consumable, which makes it especially useful to keep track of after combat. Discs can often be picked up directly from enemy corpses, but if the corpse is harvested first, any discs embedded in it are destroyed. When a body is hard to reach or awkwardly positioned, the Vacuum can recover the discs without needing manual pickup.

Because it can remain lodged in a target, Lode Disc has a few notable interactions beyond normal ammunition use. It will also dismiss the Reaper, causing him to drop a Night Essence. If the disc remains stuck in the Reaper instead of being destroyed, it will reappear at the spot where he was standing once the dismissal animation finishes and he phases or sinks into the floor.

In practice, this makes Lode Disc worth collecting after fights and worth using carefully against enemies you plan to farm or control. A few useful points:

  • Check corpses before harvesting them if you want to reclaim the discs they absorbed.
  • Use the Vacuum to retrieve discs from bodies that are out of reach or unsafe to approach.
  • Against the Reaper, a stuck disc is not lost; it returns after the dismissal sequence completes.
  • Since the disc can be recovered from corpses, using it efficiently helps conserve ammunition over time.

Lode Disc fits well into the game’s resource-conscious combat loop, where recovering spent ammunition can matter as much as dealing damage. Its corpse-recovery behavior and special interaction with the Reaper make it more than a standard projectile, and players who take the time to recover it can extend their supply considerably.
