Basic Pickaxe

The Basic Pickaxe is one of the starter mining tools in Dinkum. It is the first pickaxe most players will use to gather early ore and stone, and it is limited to the softest breakable deposits found around the island.

After obtaining Mining Licence Level 1 from Fletch, the Basic Pickaxe can be purchased from John’s Goods. It is also possible to obtain one from the Gacha Machine.

The Basic Pickaxe can break:

• Small Rocks
• Tin Ore deposits
• Copper Ore deposits
• Quartz deposits

It cannot smash deposits containing iron ore, and it is not strong enough for big rocks. For those, a more advanced pickaxe is required. This makes the Basic Pickaxe useful mainly for early progression, resource gathering, and clearing the easiest mining nodes before upgrading to stronger tools.

Like other tools with durability, the Basic Pickaxe can be repaired at the Repair Table, allowing it to remain useful longer instead of being replaced immediately when worn down. This makes it a practical early investment, especially if you are spending time gathering basic materials for crafting and upgrades.
