Overview

Companion Locket is a trinket that improves summon builds by converting unused summon slots into bonus damage for your active summons. Its effect scales with how many summon slots you have available and how many of them are actually filled, making it especially strong for builds that do not summon to full capacity.

Each summon slot has its own bonus damage value, starting at +100% for the first slot and decreasing by 10% for each later slot. When a summon slot is used, you lose that slot’s bonus; the remaining unused slot bonuses are added together and applied as increased damage to all of your summoned units. For example, with 5 summon slots, the slot bonuses are 100%, 90%, 80%, 70%, and 60%. If you summon 3 units, you keep the last two bonuses for a total of +130% summon damage.

This means Companion Locket can outperform simply filling every summon slot, because fewer summons may deal far more damage individually. In the 5-slot example, 3 summons with the locket can do more total damage than 5 summons without it, since each remaining summon gains a large multiplier. The item is therefore best when your build benefits from high-damage summons rather than maximum summon count.

  • The bonus is based on unused summon slots, not on a flat damage increase.
  • The first summon slots are the most valuable to leave empty, since their lost bonuses are the largest.
  • The item is strongest when you can field summons with high base damage and do not need to maximize the number of active minions.
  • As your maximum summon slot count increases, the total possible bonus from unused slots also increases, but the later slots contribute less than the earlier ones.
