Overview

The Deep Water Pump is a Fluid Pumps category building used to extract water from deep water tiles where ordinary pumps cannot reach. It must be placed so that the pump's farthest block (the part of the building that extends away from the path) rests directly over deep water; placement rules prevent building it on dry land or shallow water. In localized materials it is also referred to as "Deep Water Pump" in Chinese sources.

Deep Water Pumps are used when a settlement needs a reliable supply from deep water bodies rather than relying on surface or shallow sources. They function as stationary water extractors that connect into a water network (pipes and reservoirs) to supply beavers and other water consumers.

Practical notes and usage tips:

  • Placement: ensure the building footprint is oriented so its outermost block sits on a deep water tile — otherwise construction will be blocked.
  • Integration: connect the pump output to pipes or channels immediately; without a pipe network, extracted water cannot be transported to reservoirs or consumers.
  • Planning: position pumps near where water is needed or where it's easiest to lay pipework to reservoirs to minimize pipe length and crossings.
  • Terrain: because the pump requires deep water under that specific block, survey the shore and water depth before placing foundations; in some maps narrow inlets or drop-offs determine viable pump sites.
