Overview

Impermeable Floor is a buildable floor tile used to keep structures and platforms dry by blocking water from below. It can be placed atop any solid surface and is commonly used under Platforms, Metal Platforms and Overhangs where water might otherwise seep up and flood buildings that sit on those supports. Because most non-levy buildings do not block water from below, Impermeable Floor is often required to prevent flooding of supported constructions.

Unlike Contamination Barriers and Irrigation Barriers, Impermeable Floor can be constructed underneath other buildings and still permit applicable buildings to be built above it. This makes it useful for retrofitting existing platforms or creating layered builds without removing upper structures. Compared with Levees, Impermeable Floor is a thinner, floor-based alternative; it does not serve as a bulk water barrier across open terrain but is intended to protect individual tiles and the constructions on them. It also permits vertical utility connections—such as Vertical Power Shafts and Vertical Tubeways—to pass through, allowing services to route between levels while keeping the tile impervious to rising water.

  • Use Impermeable Floor under Platforms, Metal Platforms and Overhangs in flood-prone areas to prevent water ingress from below.
  • It’s appropriate when you need a compact, local solution rather than a full levee system across a larger area.
  • Because it can be built beneath other buildings, plan installations to minimize dismantling existing structures when waterproofing.
  • Impermeable Floor allows vertical shafts and tubeways through the tile, so you can maintain vertical infrastructure without compromising waterproofing.
