Overview

Metal Platforms are sturdy, prefabricated floor structures used to create raised walkways, floors, and compact open spaces in Timberborn. They come in at least two sizes and function as modular building blocks for efficient layout design, especially where ground space is limited or when elevating structures above water or uneven terrain is desirable. Metal Platforms belong to the Paths and Structures category and are constructed from metal components rather than timber.

Metal Platforms are available in multiple sizes, notably a 3×3 and a 5×5 variant. They require metal as their construction material and are tied to the game's research tree (science) before they become buildable. The 5×5 Metal Platform is frequently used to form small plazas, exercise areas, or elevated work surfaces on crowded maps because its larger footprint lets multiple beavers use the space efficiently without occupying valuable ground tiles.

Metal Platforms are one tile high following Update 6 and are no longer restricted to ground-only placement. They are not faction-specific and replaced older obsolete Metal Platform entries; legacy save files convert the previous Metal Platform and Large Metal Platform into Pillars and Pillars with Brace, which are not player-buildable. Because platforms are one-high, they integrate cleanly with other elevated constructions and allow stacked arrangements where gameplay permits, enabling compact multi-level designs.

  • Use Metal Platforms to free up scarce ground tiles by moving activity areas (exercise plazas, market stalls, small workshops) onto elevated metal surfaces.
  • The 5×5 platform is ideal for communal or high-traffic spaces; the smaller 3×3 works well for tight corridors or single-building platforms.
  • Being metal constructions, plan for metal production and storage when scaling platform-based layouts.
  • After Update 6, Metal Platforms can be placed above terrain and water; combine with pillars or other supports where necessary to achieve desired elevation and structural flow.
