Valheim’s settings cover the game’s supported platforms and the system requirements needed to run it smoothly. Because the game is in early access, performance and compatibility can change over time, but the core platform and hardware targets are fixed.

Supported platforms

Valheim is available on Windows and SteamOS + Linux through Steam.

Mac support is not included. Console release is not planned at present.

Windows system requirements

Windows requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.

Minimum

  • OS: Windows 7 or newer
  • Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual Core or similar
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 500 series or similar
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 1 GB available space
  • OS: Windows 7 or newer
  • Processor: i5 3GHz or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 970 series or similar
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Network: Broadband internet connection
  • Storage: 1 GB available space

SteamOS + Linux system requirements

SteamOS + Linux also requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.

macOS

Mac support is not available. The game requires work for Mac compatibility and testing that is not currently prioritized.

Console availability

Console support is not planned right now.

Sandbox mode

Valheim does not currently have a sandbox mode. The feature has been discussed and may be added in the future if there is enough demand.
