unit-omura
Overview
Omura is a tier-4 naval combat unit that serves as a long-range glass cannon for aquatic engagements. It mounts a high-damage, piercing railgun that fires slowly but reaches farther than nearly every other unit in the game. Because it is confined to water,
Omura is primarily encountered on naval maps and sectors; its role is to snipe high-value targets and suppress enemy heavy units before they can close in.
The
Omura's primary weapon is a railgun-style cannon with a slow fire rate (about 0.54 shots/sec) and very high single-shot damage (1250 before pierce), applying a pierce multiplier so a bolt can hit multiple targets along its line. Its maximum range is long — 62 tiles after adjustments in later updates — giving it the greatest reach of nearly all units (just slightly below or comparable to the
Foreshadow in some accounts). It is heavily armored for a naval unit (notably high armor values compared to other Serpulo units), carries a large item payload, and originally had an associated ability to spawn Flares which was later removed.
In play,
Omura excels at picking off slow, high-value targets and dealing with approaching heavy units from a safe distance. Its slow firing cadence and rotation speed, however, make it vulnerable to swarms and to fast units that can close quickly and exploit its blind spots. Tier-3 and lower ground or naval units can overwhelm an
Omura if they can get inside its effective firing arc and use speed or numbers; insectoid units typically fare poorly because they drown in water and never reach it. The default AI tends to have
Omura advance toward close-range defenses, which can make them easier to counter if they are not manually controlled.
Omura can be used both offensively and defensively. On defense its long range and piercing bolts allow a small number of Omuras to cover large areas without recurring costs like
Surge Alloy or Power consumption tied to mobile energy weapons. When manually controlled (or when positioned carefully with logic), an
Omura can even outrange or counter Foreshadows thanks to its pierce. In custom attack scenarios, pairing
Omura with high-health escort units such as
Oct can protect it from
Foreshadow snipes by redirecting fire;
Aegires and
Cyerce are useful allies for on-field healing to keep
Omura and friendly Foreshadows alive. Repair infrastructure — rapid-mending tools like Mend Projectors,
Poly and
Mega — are important to sustain nearby key units (for example Foreshadows) so your sector doesn't collapse under
Omura-led assaults.
Practical notes and interactions:
- The
Omura deals massive single-shot damage with pierce; place it where its line of fire can hit multiple targets or priority threats at long range. - Its slow rotation and fire rate make it weak against large, fast swarms; use supporting units (Brydes,
Cyerce, etc.) or micro to surround and overwhelm it. - Because the AI may have it sail toward close-range turrets, consider manual control or logic scripts to hold position for optimal sniping.
Omura cannot be picked up as a payload by any unit on either planet due to its payload size.- Its description and mechanics changed across updates (introduced in Version 6.0, range adjusted to 62 in 7.0, several capacity/rule tweaks and removal of flare-spawning in Version 8.0), so some older guides may reference now-removed abilities.
