Overview

Marble Block is a decorative building used to add Decor in a base. It is a sculptable block modeled as a large, single-tile sculpture component that provides a significant aura of positive Decor to duplicants within range. Marble Block appears as a finished building placed in the world and functions primarily for aesthetic and morale effects rather than mechanical interaction.

Marble Block’s Decor output scales with material: when built from Granite it grants +20% total Decor compared to a Marble Block made from the same base material, making Granite a preferred choice when maximizing decorative value per resource. Two Large Sculpting Blocks combined provide the same total Decor as a single Marble Block but require twice the construction cost and occupy more space (their effective range is slightly diminished by their 1x3 tile footprint). Two Metal Blocks provide twice the Decor of a single Marble Block (or more depending on metal type), so metal sculptures remain a high-Decor option if resources allow.

Practical notes and placement guidance:

  • Place Marble Blocks in high-traffic or living areas (dining halls, recreation rooms, barracks) to boost duplicant morale efficiently.
  • Combining Marble Blocks with other Decor sources produces additive effects; pairing with complementary decorative tiles and plants increases overall happiness.
  • Consider material choice: Granite-built marble sculptures give a built-in Decor bonus; higher-quality materials like metals can outclass marble in raw Decor but cost more.
  • Due to their size and single-tile nature, Marble Blocks are space-efficient compared with multiple Large Sculpting Blocks, making them useful in tight builds where maximizing Decor per tile matters.

Marble Block is tied to the sculpting system and integrates with room-planning strategies for managing duplicant stress and morale.
