Overview

Automation Ribbon Bridge is an automation building introduced in Bahni's Automation Innovation Pack, alongside the Automation Ribbon and other routing tools. It belongs to the expanded automation system that lets up to four signals travel through a single tile, giving colony builders more compact ways to route control logic.

It is part of the same family of ribbon-based automation infrastructure as Ribbon Writer and Ribbon Reader, which convert between single-signal Automation Wire and Automation Ribbon. The update also notes that mixing single wires and ribbons on the same run causes a signal overload, so ribbon layouts should be kept consistent when planning a circuit.

In practice, Automation Ribbon Bridge is useful when you want to carry multiple automation states through a limited space without spreading several separate wires across the base. This makes it easier to build dense control networks for sensors, shutoffs, selectors, and distributors while keeping the layout cleaner.

  • Use Automation Ribbon when a single Automation Wire would run out of space or become cluttered.
  • Keep ribbon segments and wire segments separated unless you are intentionally converting between them.
  • Pair ribbon routing with Signal Selector and Signal Distributor for more complex automation logic.
  • The building is most valuable in compact machine rooms, where reducing cable clutter improves readability and future expansion.
