Zinc is a crafting resource in Astroneer. It is primarily a manufacturing material rather than a terrain or exploration item, and its main role is to supply a broad set of recipes in the printer and related crafting interfaces. It is also consumed in a separate activation use for a gateway-related structure.

In practice, Zinc is best treated as a mid- to late-game supply item that you keep on hand whenever you are expanding your equipment options.
