gas

Gases are a core logistics and processing medium in Captain of Industry. They are moved, separated, burned, released, scrubbed, or permanently disposed of to keep factories running and pollution under control.

Gas logistics

Pipes

Pipes transport liquids and gases. Each pipe segment can transport only one product type at a time.

Haul truck tank

The haul truck tank is a large hauling truck with max capacity of {0}. It can transport only liquid or gas products. It cannot pass under transport structures.

Fluid station module and tanker wagon

Fluid handling equipment is used to load and unload fluids, including liquids and gases, to and from trucks and rail freight. These systems let gas products participate in the same bulk logistics network as liquids.

Gas processing and production

Air Separator

The Air Separator performs cryogenic distillation at temperatures reaching -200 °C to separate atmospheric air into its primary components: oxygen and nitrogen.

Anaerobic Digester

The Anaerobic Digester uses anaerobic microorganisms to decompose biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen, producing combustible gas and fertilizer.

Boiler Gas

Boiler Gas produces high-pressure steam by burning gas.

Chemical Plant

The Chemical Plant produces various chemical products that involve liquids and gases.

Gas disposal and pollution control

Smoke Stack

The Smoke Stack allows gases to be released into the atmosphere. Some gases, such as exhaust, cause pollution.

Exhaust Scrubber

The Exhaust Scrubber filters harmful components from hot exhaust gases and extracts useful resources in the process.

Gas Injection Pump

The Gas Injection Pump provides permanent disposal of gases such as carbon dioxide by dissolving them in a liquid and injecting them under pressure into the ground. It has no pollution effect and can be built only on top of a limestone deposit.

Flare

The Flare can burn combustible liquids and gasses but produces pollution.

Vehicle and ship fuel use

Gas is part of the broader fuel-and-emissions economy: vehicles and ships consume fuel and generate pollution, so gas production, combustion, and cleanup often connect directly to transport support and environmental management.
