Desert

Overview

The Desert is a biome that can generate with extra sub-areas and structures rather than existing only as open terrain. One possible feature is a mini biome with ruins, giving the desert a chance to include a small ruin-filled section inside its broader layout.

The Desert can also contain a Desert Village. These villages are notable because each one has an entrance to the Desert Caves, making them an important point of interest for players who want to move deeper underground from the surface desert. In practice, a Desert Village serves as both a settlement landmark and a natural gateway into the cave layer beneath the biome.

When exploring the Desert, it is worth checking for both of these generated features:

  • A mini biome with ruins, which adds a distinct pocket of content inside the desert.
  • A Desert Village, which provides access to the Desert Caves.

Because these features are part of the biome’s generation, not every Desert will look the same. Some will include only the basic desert terrain, while others will contain one or both of these special structures.
