Anemic
Overview
Anemic is a duplicant trait that indicates the duplicant has trouble keeping up with others. The trait manifests as difficulty staying alongside other duplicants when they move or run, causing the anemic duplicant to fall behind during group movement and tasks that require sustained mobility.
Anemic affects routine colony logistics in straightforward ways. When assigned to jobs that require moving between distant workstations, responding to emergencies, or following other duplicants, an anemic duplicant will lag compared to peers. This can increase travel time for their assigned duties and make them less reliable for tasks that depend on rapid repositioning or synchronized movement with other duplicants.
- Place anemic duplicants close to the tasks and facilities they use most to reduce transit distances and interruptions to workflow.
- Prefer assignments that emphasize stationary work or roles with limited travel, such as nearby research benches, cooking, or long-duration maintenance in a single area.
- Avoid assigning anemic duplicants as primary responders for mobile duties that require quick arrival, such as manual firefighting runs across the base or recurring fetch duties that span large distances.
- When scheduling shifts and work priorities, account for longer travel time for anemic duplicants to prevent work stoppages or delayed task handoffs.
- Use routing and base layout to minimize forced long walks: place key facilities, storages, and job locations in compact clusters so anemic duplicants can remain productive without needing to keep pace with faster colleagues.
Anemic is primarily a mobility-related limitation rather than a measure of competence in non-travel skills. Managing base design and job assignments to reduce unnecessary movement mitigates the practical impact of the trait and maintains overall colony efficiency.
