Overview
Taro Tuber is a type of seed that can be planted to grow
Taro Tubers can be obtained from several late-game and Ginger Island sources. They may appear in Common Chests, or be dropped by Tiger Slimes and Magma Duggies in the Volcano Dungeon. They can also be found from Tiger Slimes in the Tiger Slime Grove, produced by the
Like other crops, Taro Tubers normally take 10 days to mature when planted on standard farm tiles and watered each day. However, they have a unique advantage when grown near water: if planted approximately within 3 tiles of a water source, such as a Farm Pond or a river, they count as irrigated in the same way as a paddy field crop. These irrigated plantings do not need to be connected to one another or directly adjacent to water to benefit from the effect. In irrigated conditions, Taro Tubers mature in 7 days and do not require daily watering.
This makes Taro Tuber especially useful on farms with natural waterways, since it can save time and labor compared to ordinary crops. The effect applies across multiple farm layouts, including Standard Farm, Riverland Farm, Forest Farm, Hill-top Farm, Wilderness Farm, Four Corners Farm, Beach Farm, Meadowlands Farm, and Ginger Island.
- Plant Taro Tubers near water to take advantage of the shorter 7-day growth time.
- They are especially practical on farms with rivers, ponds, or other irrigated terrain.
- Using Taro Roots in a Seed Maker can create more Taro Tubers, allowing the crop to sustain itself once established.
- The Island Trader exchange makes them accessible without relying solely on random drops or chests.
