Bone Fragment

Bone Fragments are a resource item used in several crafting, tailoring, and trade systems. They are primarily obtained by defeating Skeletons and Lava Lurks, breaking Bone Nodes on Ginger Island, destroying crates and barrels in Skull Cavern, panning, or finding them in Artifact Spots. A pet dog with maximum friendship can also gift Bone Fragments.

They have a wide range of uses despite being a common combat and exploration drop. Five Bone Fragments can be converted in the Bone Mill into one of several fertilizer or speed-boost products, including Quality Fertilizer, Speed-Gro, Deluxe Speed-Gro, or Tree Fertilizer. The item is also part of the ingredient pool for crafting recipes such as the Bone Mill itself, Skull Brazier, Dark Sign, Thorns Ring, Ostrich Incubator, Deluxe Speed-Gro, Hyper Speed-Gro, and Challenge Bait.

Bone Fragments are useful for Ginger Island trading as well. The Island Trader keeps them in permanent stock, exchanging 2 Bone Fragments for 1 Taro Tuber and 30 Bone Fragments for the Banana Pudding recipe. They are also one of the possible inputs for a bundle that requires 10 Bone Fragments.

Other uses include tailoring and dyeing. Bone Fragment can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to make the Skeleton Shirt, and it can serve as a yellow dye ingredient in the dye pots at Emily and Haley’s house. The item also has a quest role in “Fragments of the past,” where Gunther may request 100 Bone Fragments or other bone items on the Special Orders board while the quest is active, with 7 days to complete it.
