Eel

The Eel is a fish that can be caught in the ocean at The Beach, or on the Beach Farm, during rainy weather in Spring or Fall from 4:00 PM to 2:00 AM. It can also appear in the Traveling Cart or in Garbage Cans during Spring or Fall. With Magic Bait, it can be caught regardless of weather, time, or season.

Eel is also one of the fish that may be requested on the Help Wanted board outside Pierre’s General Store during Spring or Fall. Fulfilling that request grants a reward and 150 Friendship points.

In the Fish Pond, Eels reproduce every 3 days. A pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish and can be expanded to 10 by completing three quests. The pond’s only product is brown Eel Roe.

• From 3 to 5 fish, the requested item can be 3 Driftwood, 1 Frozen Geode, or 1–2 Seaweed, and the quest grants 35 Fishing XP.
• From 5 to 7 fish, the requested item can be 2 Clams or 2 Coral, and the quest grants 35 Fishing XP.
• From 7 to 10 fish, the requested item can be 2 Aquamarine, 1 Mussel, or 2 Sea Urchins, and the quest grants 35 Fishing XP.

Fish Pond production is straightforward. At a population of 1–4, the pond has a 70% chance to produce Eel Roe and a 30% chance to produce nothing, with a total daily chance of 16–33% for Roe depending on population. At a population of 5–10, the pond always produces something, with a 100% chance of Roe and a total daily chance of 55–95%.

Eel can also be used in tailoring. Placing it in the spool of the Sewing Machine creates the dyeable Sailor Shirt. It can also be used as an orange dye ingredient at the dye pots in Emily’s and Haley’s house at 2 Willow Lane.
