The Frozen Geode is a mineral deposit that can contain minerals, artifacts, ores, or basic resources. It can be found on floors 41–79 of the Mines, on the Farm during Winter, inside Fishing Treasure Chests, and as a gift from the Feast of the Winter Star. It can also be produced by an Ice Pip Fish Pond once the pond reaches population 9, and Frozen Geode Nodes can be mined in the small quarry areas of Hill-top Farm and Four Corners Farm. Sebastian also sells Frozen Geodes at the Desert Festival for Calico Eggs.
Frozen Geodes are opened by Clint at the Blacksmith for a fee or by using a Geode Crusher. Their contents are fixed by the geode itself, so neither daily luck nor luck buffs affect what comes out. Once a player has reached floor 76 of the Mines, Gold Ore can appear in Frozen Geodes; before that, Gold Ore is replaced by Iron Ore. Aside from clay and stone, item amounts follow the usual geode reward pattern: 30% for 1, 30% for 3, 30% for 5, 9% for 10, and 1% for 20. Stone is special, with a 50% chance to use those amounts and a 50% chance to give only 1. Clay is limited to a single unit per geode.
Frozen Geodes are also relevant to several Fish Pond quests. Ice Pip may request 5 Frozen Geodes to raise pond capacity from 5 to 7, several ocean fish may request 1 Frozen Geode to increase capacity from 3 to 5, and the Raccoon may ask for 5 Frozen Geodes as part of its fifth request or any request starting with the sixth.
In tailoring, Frozen Geode can be used in the Sewing Machine as a cyan dye source, and it can also be placed in the blue dye pot at Emily’s and Haley’s house for dyeing.
