Albacore

The Albacore is a fish that can be caught in the ocean at The Beach or on the Beach Farm during Fall and Winter, in the early morning and at night. It can also appear randomly in Krobus' shop on Wednesdays or in the Traveling Cart. Using Magic Bait allows it to be caught regardless of season or time of day.

Albacore has a few practical uses beyond selling or keeping for the Fish Pond. It can be placed in a Fish Pond, where it reproduces every 2 days. A pond starts with capacity for 3 fish and can be expanded to 10 by completing three quests. The only possible pond output is blue Albacore Roe.

Fish Pond progression for Albacore requires the following items:

• From 3 to 5 fish: 3 Driftwood, 1 Frozen Geode, or 1–2 Seaweed
• From 5 to 7 fish: 2 Clams or 2 Coral
• From 7 to 10 fish: 2 Aquamarine, 1 Mussel, or 2 Sea Urchins

A full pond produces Albacore Roe much more reliably, while smaller populations have a chance to produce nothing. The pond also grants fishing experience when the quest item is delivered.

Albacore is also useful in tailoring and dyeing. It can be used in the spool of the Sewing Machine to create the dyeable Sailor Shirt, and it serves as a blue dye item in the dye pots at Emily's and Haley's house, 2 Willow Lane.

It can also be requested for quests and special orders. Gus mails a Fish Stew request on Winter 26 that asks for an albacore. Willy may also request 1–4 albacore on the Help Wanted board in Fall or Winter, and Demetrius may request 10 Albacore for the Aquatic Overpopulation special order in Fall.
