Bream

Bream is a fish that can be used for tailoring, dyeing, fish pond production, and delivery requests. It is one of the fish that can be placed in a Fish Pond, where it reproduces every 2 days. A pond starts with a capacity of 3 fish and can be expanded to 10 by completing the pond quests that Bream may request. When kept in a pond, Bream produces only blue Bream Roe.

Bream also has a few utility uses outside the Fish Pond. It can be placed in the Sewing Machine spool to create the dyeable Fish Shirt, and it can serve as a blue dye item at the dye pots in Emily's and Haley's house at 2 Willow Lane. In addition, one Bream may be requested as a Help Wanted quest item outside Pierre's General Store during any season, rewarding gold and friendship points.

For Fish Pond management, Bream can contribute to the pond expansion process through quests at the 3-fish capacity stage. The possible request items for the first expansion are 3 Acorns, 10 Bug Meat, 3 Maple Seeds, or 3 Pine Cones. The second expansion request can ask for 3 Gold Ore, 1 Maple Syrup, or 5 Mixed Seeds. The final expansion request can ask for 1 Crayfish, 1 Honey, 2 Jade, or 1 Periwinkle. Each completed quest grants Fishing XP.

A Bream pond has the following production behavior:

• It can reproduce every 2 days.
• It can hold from 1 to 10 fish, depending on completed quests.
• Its only possible output is blue Bream Roe.
• The pond has a chance to produce nothing on a given day, even when populated.

Because Bream has both tailoring and dyeing uses, it is useful to keep at least one on hand if the player wants to complete those crafting or cosmetic options without having to obtain another fish later. It is also a straightforward Fish Pond choice for players who want a single-output pond item and do not mind the occasional empty production day.
