Qi Fruit

Qi Fruit is a fruit crop that grows from Qi Beans after 4 days and is only available during the "Qi's Crop" quest. It always sells at normal quality, and it is one of only five crops that can grow into a giant crop. During the quest, Mister Qi asks the player to ship 500 Qi Fruit within 28 days.

Qi Fruit grows through four one-day stages before it can be harvested. Like other giant-crop-capable plants, a fully grown field of Qi Fruit can merge into a giant crop under the right conditions. Unlike the crop itself, giant Qi Fruit persist after the quest ends, and they can be harvested in later Qi's Crop quests for more Qi Fruit. If a giant Qi Fruit is chopped down when the quest is not active, it produces a Mystery Box instead of fruit; the first time this happens, Mister Qi sends the player a taunting message.

When Qi's Crop ends, all Qi Fruit and Qi Beans despawn the next day. This includes Qi Fruit still growing in the field, items in players' inventories, all types of chests, Preserves Jars, Kegs, items placed on tables, and even Marlon's Item Recovery Service list. Qi Fruit jelly and wine do not despawn after the quest is completed, so processed products can survive the quest ending even though the crop and raw fruit do not.

Qi Fruit can also be used like other crops in a few crafting and dyeing applications. It can be combined with Cloth in the Sewing Machine to create a clothing item, and it can be placed in the blue dye pot at Emily and Haley's house for dyeing.

For profitability, Qi Fruit follows the usual fruit-based rules for the Dehydrator, which uses 5 fruit per use. Its dehydrated sell price is based on the fruit's base price rather than its quality, so higher-quality fruit loses more value relative to selling it raw. The Tiller Profession still boosts its value, but that bonus is truncated in the game code. In practice, raw Qi Fruit is generally the better use of the crop unless it is being saved for specific processing, quest, or giant-crop purposes.
